Beacon of hope

I contemplated the title of the former First Lady of the United States; Michelle Obama’s new book; ‘The Light We Carry’.

Without even reading the book, I longed to feel its’ content, because of the title ( looking forward to reading this book and would also recommend it to others). Often, we look to others for guidance; imitating lifestyles and trends here and there(not that, it’s bad in itself) but what I discovered was that we usually lose our true selves in the process. However, deep within us, lies this undiscovered treasure which connects us to greatness and even sets a trend.

It’s not just the talent or skill I am talking about but this seed of hope, which not only brings us back on the right path when we are lost but also goes a long way to ensure a sustainable livelihood. Have you ever heard the story of some successful people who were once wayward, due to some bad decisions made, but later got back on track and are making impacts in our world now? I am talking of the likes of Pastor Sarah Jakes-Roberts. What brought them back on track? I found my answer to this question in the Bible; Jer. 1:5, which says that; ‘before I formed you in my mother’s womb, I knew you, set you apart and appointed you… ‘ I strongly believe, it is the setting apart and the calling that drives us to purpose, even when we lose track.

Additionally, the Bible says we are the light of the world. This light often shines even during our darkest moments and brings us back on track, after taking consistent wrong turns. One would ask, how can this ensure a sustainable livelihood? Here is the point; If only one person, discovers that light, we could light up the world of others by encouraging them to discover their light. When more people discover that light, it will lead them to discover
purpose, which eventually brings fulfilment. ❤

A fulfilled person hardly indulges in vices such as robbery, theft or even petty quarrels. Rather, they yearn to make a difference in the lives of others, through giving, outreaches etc. This would sustain livelihood. Unfortunately, not everyone gets the opportunity to discover that hidden treasure. That is our aim, here at the Pretty and Priceless Foundation, our goal is to raise beacons of hope; i.e: leading others to discover that light within them that sets them apart from others, even when the odds are against them. We do that through empowerment sessions, coaching and research.

Talk to us, ladies. We are here for you!
